Jimmy Meris

Organized by Jimmy's Prayer Warriors

Sad news...
Jimmy Meris, husband to Wendy and father to Lauren, shed his earthly shell and was welcomed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father yesterday at 4:30 pm surrounded by his family. His testimony and faith remains an inspiration to us all. Please continue to pray for the family. The ride will go on as scheduled and donations are still being solicited for the family.

Pennies for Jimmy
On Sept 25th Mike Hatfield is riding across the state of North Carolina (from the mountains to the beach) to help raise money for Jimmy Meris, a friend who was diagnosed with Leukemia in November of last year. The ride will last one week and cover a little over 400 miles.

We are asking for donations of:
1 penny per mile = $4.00
a nickle per mile = $20.00
a dime per mile = $40.00
or a quarter per mile = $100

All money raised will go directly to the Meris family.

Jimmy and his wife Wendy have been married almost 26 yrs. Last Nov 12th, ten days after their 25th wedding anniversary, Jimmy was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He had no warning other than a fever. Blood work confirmed the diagnosis. He was transferred to Baptist Hosp on Nov 18th after being in High Point Regional for 5 days. We were told from the start that without a bone marrow transplant, his chance of survival was 10%. He did not have a family match, nor was a match found in the National Bank until May 3rd pf this year. Unfortunately, that match came a little late as Jimmy's cancer is now out of remission. He is still fighting the good fight, taking chemo treatment one after another. He has spent over 100 days in the hospital since Nov. Our fear is if Jimmy does get into remission, he will not have enough insurance days (which he must have) for them to do the transplant which costs $175K. Wendy continues to work as the household bills go on.

We have the faith that God will make the way for HIS will.
